Guidelines for Mississippi Association of Coaches Hall of Fame

Each year five (5) persons may be honored as inductees in the Mississippi Association of Coaches Hall of Fame. This shall come under the responsibility of the Mississippi Association of Coaches.

Four (4) persons from the coaching profession shall be honored. One (1) person related to the advancement of high school athletics in Mississippi may be honored. One (1) of the five persons to be honored may be honored posthumously.

All Past Presidents of the M.A.C. who are in good standing (never missed three (3) consecutive meetings without a valid reason and notifying the M.A.C. Office of the reason — this does not include 1991 or 1992 meetings) shall serve as members of the Selection Committee and the Executive Director shall act as chairman of the committee.

Hall of Fame Nomination for Coaches and Athletic Directors

Each year four (4) coaches shall be honored. Any M.A.C. member may nominate a candidate for the award by submitting a written letter of nomination to the M.A.C. office. Once a person is nominated, his/her name remains on the list and will automatically come up for consideration in succeeding years without being re-submitted. Any nominee whose complete biographical information has been received by the M.A.C. Office at least ten (10) days prior to the Hall of Fame Selection Committee Meeting, is eligible to be elected at that meeting.

The qualifications for Coaches and Athletic Directors are:

  1. Have served a minimum of twenty-five (25) years in athletics (can be a combination of coaching and/or directing athletics) with a minimum of fifteen (15) years as an active or allied member of the Mississippi Association of Coaches; and fifteen (15) years of coaching in Mississippi Junior High Schools, Mississippi High Schools, and/or Mississippi Community and Junior Colleges, or a combination of fifteen (15) years in all three.
  2. Exemplify the ideals set forth in the Code of Ethics of the Mississippi Association of Coaches.
  3. Have made an outstanding contribution to the coaching profession and/or to the Mississippi Association of Coaches.
  4. Be dedicated to the athletes and to the sports he/she is coaching (or has coached) and to the coaching profession.
  5. A Coach or Athletic Director who is eligible for membership in the Mississippi Association of Coaches and elects not to maintain said membership during the majority of his/her active working years, as verified by M.A.C. records, will not be considered for induction into the Hall of Fame.
Nominations for Persons Related to High School Athletics

Each year one (1) person may be honored. Any member of the Association may nominate a candidate for the award. Office at least ten (10) days prior to the Hall of Fame Selection Committee Meeting, is eligible to be elected at that meeting.
